The outcomes are heavily influenced by underlying assumptions, underscoring the need for a comprehensive understanding to ensure accuracy and precision. It is critical to initially use both analytical and empirical models to build mental models, before do flow and simulation models. Analogy and empirical models can be used for quick answers as well as guide the analytical and flow simulation. Reservoir heterogeneity is a key determinant of performance. Therefore to address heterogeneity we often transition into simulation then analytical and empirical models as a precursor to simulation.
