WATERFLOOD WORKFLOW

General Description

The workflow you use in waterflood surveillance depends upon that Waterflood Type and waterflood maturity. Some of the waterflood types are:

  • heavy oil (medium grade)
  • conventional waterflood (light oil)
  • Naturally Fractured Reservoirs (NFR)
  • Waterflood with Induced Fractures
  • bottom water drive waterflood
  • lateral or horizontal waterflood
  • low permeability waterflood (permeability challenged reservoirs)

There can be combination of those waterfloods.

Geological complexity in the reservoir is a key determining factor for oil rates, water production and oil recovery factor. Therefore, we need determine to determine general heterogeneity type. We use use a Shell like classification terminology: layered, jig saw or labyrinth classes.

Finally wellbore damage and dynamics are important to consider.

Analogy and analytical techniques are useful here.

Development Options or Executed Develop Plans

Field Development Plans (FDP) depend upon waterflood types and man -made options such as

  • well spacing
  • facility limitations (water. fluid and oil handling capability)
  • well spacing + anticipated induced fracture length
  • water injection over and under fracture parting pressure
  • vertical vs horizontal wells

Analogy and analytical techniques are useful here.

At BRE-Group, we believe that collaboration is key to success. We work closely with our clients to understand their challenges and goals, Eand develop solutions that are tailored to their unique needs. Our approach is transparent, results-driven, and designed to help businesses thrive.

Analogy Extraction

When examining analogies  it is important to understand:

      1. Permeability heterogeneity

      2. Oil viscosity

      3. Relative permeability

      4. Average Effective (medium scale) Permeability

      5. Depletion

      6. Gas caps + aquifer response in both primary and secondary modes

     7. Waxes, fines migration

     8. Fractures/Faults

     9. Facility limitations

     10. Waterflood pattern type
